The pinball plotting in Brassic can be disconcerting but there’s rarely a dull moment as we lurch from slapstick to serious and back again. This week, our gang of small-town criminals plan to put on a music festival as a way to shift all their home-grown weed. One of the best scenes involves a brilliant anti-festival rant from Jim, the farmer whose land they’ll use – a tour de force from actor Steve Evets.

Meanwhile, it’s also disconcerting that Parth Thakerar, who plays a candidate for London mayor in Gangs of London over on Sky Atlantic, plays the very different JJ here – this week JJ has to drive a bulldozer through a wall and steal a pig called Bernard.
