Last night Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton was named BBC's Sports Personality of the Year 2014, following a hugely successful twelve months, including his second world title win last month.

The 29-year-old Mercedes driver was pretty sure last night's trophy was heading to someone else, admitting he thought golfer Rory McIlroy was going to win. But actually, Hamilton won it comfortably with sports presenter Jake Humphrey tweeting that he "had it in the bag".
