Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville was David Walliams’ star friend in tonight’s Christmas special.

The actor, who has shown in W1A what great comic timing he has, was clearly thought by the BBC to be the pick of an illustrious list of guests on the sketch show, following in the footsteps of previous visitors Joanna Lumley, Harry Enfield and Sheridan Smith who have featured in the series.
