It you were worried the Simpsons were getting samey, they’ve heard your concerns, and now Homer has been reinvented as an 80s crime-fighter in the Miami Vice mould (with a muscular sofa as his trusty sidekick).

Well, sort of – the fun flight of fancy only actually takes place as an extended “couch gag” for upcoming episode Teenage Mutant Milk-Cause Hurdles, created for the show by animator Steve Cutts.
But we reckon this idea could run and run. After all, who could resist the prospect of Ned Flanders as jacked baddie Fernando Whitmore?
